Bangladesh star all-rounder, Shakib has banned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for two years from all formats of cricket. This ban was imposed because he accepted the charges being investigated by the ICC anti-corruption unit. The charges against Shakib are:
  • The first charge was due to the Tri-series between Sri Lank, Bangladesh, and Zimbabwe in 2018 or IPL 2018. This was imposed according to the article 2.4.4 of the Cricket Law which states that “failure to disclose to the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) full details of any approaches or invitations he received to engage in Corrupt”
  • The other was due to the approach for the second time in Tri-series between Sri Lank, Bangladesh, and Zimbabwe in 2018. This was imposed according to article 2.4.4 of the Cricket Law which states that “Failure to disclose to the ACU full details of any approaches or invitations he received to engage in Corrupt”.
  • The last one was due to the match played between the Sunrisers Hyderabad Vs Kings XI Punjab dated April 26, 2018, in the IPL edition 2018. This was imposed according to article 2.4.4 of the Cricket Law which states that “Failure to disclose to the ACU full details of any approaches or invitations he received to engage in Corrupt”.
